Veghel, 6 December 2023 – Labour Power Company (LPC) has immediately acquired recruitment specialist International Job Challenge (IJC), headquartered in the Valencia region of Spain. IJC specializes in facilitating job placements for individuals in Spain and Portugal and has various branches across Southern Europe. With this acquisition, LPC further realizes its international ambitions. This marks LPC’s eleventh acquisition since its inception in 2020.
International Job Challenge
Founders Rolf van der Meijden and Curro Verhagen have built a recruitment agency over the past years that excels in recruiting and selecting job seekers in Southern Europe. “We work for multiple companies and staffing organizations in the Netherlands, successfully placing over 10,000 people in the past five years. In Southern Europe, we have built a strong reputation due to our local teams prioritizing people and working from quality principles. We also collaborate with several LPC companies, leading to discussions about this acquisition. For us, it’s a great opportunity to join an organization that has grown so strongly in recent years and has gained a prominent position in international recruitment. With this step, IJC can expand and thrive, ensuring continuity,” says Van der Meijden.
Independent Continuation
This acquisition was led by Tamara Broeren (CFO) and Linda van Alphen (COO) from LPC. Van Alphen states, “Recruitment is the lifeblood of our company. The labor market is under significant pressure due to structural factors such as aging and a declining workforce. Currently, the tight labor market is somewhat alleviated by economic conditions, but we anticipate it returning to the forefront when the economy picks up again. That’s why we are strengthening our recruitment apparatus in an anticyclical manner. IJC has been working for some of our companies for many years. To secure this inflow, we have taken this step. We are very satisfied with the quality of IJC’s services. We have noticed a shift in our recruitment focus from Eastern Europe to Southern Europe in recent years. While LPC already has its own offices in Spain and Portugal, this acquisition solidifies our position. IJC will, as customary from the LPC perspective, autonomously continue its services under the current local management.”.
Significant Growth for LPC
Since its establishment in January 2020, LPC has acquired eleven companies. Including IJC, the annual turnover in 2023 is estimated to be around €400 million. According to Tamara Broeren, CFO of LPC, this acquisition is strategically important. “We are strengthening our organization precisely when the economy is not performing at its best. It’s gratifying that our shareholders are willing to invest anticyclically!” says Broeren.
